The Vanya Residence

The living areas are quiet and generous. A cream bouclé sofa sits beneath a large abstract painting, a low stone-topped table rests on bronze legs, and a woven rug in sand and taupe grounds the seating. Sheer and heavy curtains frame the windows, a daybed faces the light, and the television is set into a mosaic-tiled wall with slim brass shelves. The dining area is lit by a ribbon of glass globes above a dark stone table on a brass base, with a framed traditional painting behind it.

The bedrooms each take a different mood from the same restrained palette. One is blush, with a cane headboard, cane-fronted wardrobes and a hand-painted blossom branch; another is wrapped in a painted landscape mural with a soft rose headboard; a third has a four-poster bed hung with white drapes. A guest room uses fluted panelling and mesh pendant lights, and the kitchen pairs cream cabinets and a stone-look backsplash with brass accents and a breakfast counter.
